What is
Nutritional Therapy?

Our bodies are meant to thrive.

But stressors knock our bodies out of balance - and everything is a stressor. (Nutritional Therapy Association [NTA], 2020) Things like your job, family, money, deadlines, the news, social media, all of the above and then some are common stressors we’re all too familiar with. Even happy occasions like organizing a vacation, simple actions like standing up too quickly, or external factors like temperature changes, affect our bodies. Add in life’s BIG curveballs, today’s typical diet, and the countless toxins we live with, and it’s no wonder our bodies are thrown out of balance. It’s no wonder you don’t feel good. It’s no wonder we aren’t thriving anymore.

The good news is our bodies are designed to adapt.

While nutrition may not be the only factor in your health, it’s certainly one of the most important. (NTA, 2021a) After all, without enough of the raw materials your body NEEDS to thrive, those stressors can add up and weaken your resilience. (NTA, 2020)

To combat all those stressors we need to raise our defenses. That’s where Nutritional Therapy comes in.

Let’s Compare

  • The Usual Way

You’re tired. You hurt. You’ve started noticing (fill in the blank symptom) lately. So you visit your doc who runs some tests.

Filled with hope that some answers are coming your way, you return only to find out all your labs are “normal.” Imagining it? Many are led to believe they are when their symptoms don’t magically improve despite no recommendations because their labs say they’re fine.

Or maybe you ARE diagnosed with something. Cue the treatment, which may or may not relieve the original symptom(s) but then often creates even more thanks to side effects and nutrient depletions. Still… it’s diagnose, pills/creams/injections/surgery, repeat…

Critical and immensely effective in acute emergencies, modern healthcare isn’t so great at prevention or relieving chronic issues. It’s actually more sick care that often covers up symptoms while never really getting to why you’re experiencing them in the first place.

  • Another Approach

Nutritional therapy is not a quick fix. And NTPs don’t diagnose, prescribe or treat anything. Instead, Nutritional Therapy utilizes the 6 Foundations of Health to bring your body's chemistry back into its bio-individual natural balance through food and lifestyle recommendations that set the stage for optimal health. So you FEEL good and can do all the things you want to do.

The key word there is “recommendations.” No drill sergeants or lecturers here. I make individualized suggestions, and you decide what you’re open to trying. No pressure - just support and guidance. This is your journey… I’ll meet you where you are now. And when that changes? I’ll meet you there, too.

Is nutritional therapy a cure? I certainly can’t - and would never - insinuate that. But supporting your body, symptoms, and current medical treatments nutritionally can only ever benefit your health and wellness.

Are you craving a change?

So what are YOU craving? Let's skip foods for now - we'll get to those. When it comes to you and your family's health, what's calling to you? Validation for the symptoms you know you’re having but get little real relief for? A approach beyond pills and rigid lab values (that are actually NOT a reflection of optimal levels)? A listening ear?

You're in the right place. I help adults and ever-maturing (read: moody, emotional, unfocused) kiddos address what's concerning them through food, lifestyle, and (sometimes) targeted supplement support that empowers the body to bring itself back into balance.
